WELCOME TO

The Guilty Parent Club

Lightheartedly named, but seriously effective: Evidence-based support for overwhelmed parents when typical parenting advice just isn’t working
Why does parenting seem harder for our family than everyone else’s? Nothing I try seems to work...
I try so hard to stay calm… and then I snap. And then I feel awful. Am I messing them up?
I wonder if my child is neurodivergent… but then I tell myself I’m overreacting...

Out of survival mode,
into steadier parenting

You’re trying your best. You’ve read the parenting advice, you’re doing what you can... but it still doesn’t seem to work. There are tantrums and meltdowns. Your child doesn’t listen. You lose it too, and then feel guilty afterwards.

You might be wondering if they’re neurodivergent... and then questioning yourself for even thinking that. It can feel like you’re failing, or worse, somehow getting it wrong in a way that will affect them long-term.

But parenting doesn’t have to feel this relentless. The Guilty Parent Club helps overwhelmed parents move out of survival mode with practical, evidence-based support that actually fits real family life.

Want a taster of the podcast library? 🎧

I've selected four short podcast episodes that introduce some of the ideas parents tell me have helped them most.

In less than 30 minutes, you'll discover:

✓ Why certain thoughts can tip us into overwhelm - and how knowing this can help
✓ My unique BALM parent regulation exercise
✓ How playfulness can reduce conflict and build connection - with practical tips to try immediately

"It has been amazing, I've learned so many strategies that make a lot of sense within the 6Ps model. I've noticed a change in the overall structure of my thinking as much as having more techniques to draw on, which overall reduces my stress in many previously triggering situations as I dont feel so stuck and overwhelmed by being out of ideas. It was great to meet (virtually) other parents with similar struggles. It's been really helpful to hold in mind that it's ok to do what works for our family even if that's different to what might be culturally expected. Thanks so much Jo!"

Why this helps when other parenting advice doesn’t

You’ve likely tried “gentle parenting”, which sounds good in theory but falls apart when you’re overwhelmed, especially with a highly sensitive, emotionally intense, or neurodivergent child.

Most parenting advice either focuses on behaviour management, with rigid rules, or is too vague to make a difference in the moment.

When your child is dysregulated, the real challenge isn’t knowing what to do, it’s staying regulated enough yourself to do it. On the other hand, you really can't stay calm if you feel completely out of your depth.

The Guilty Parent Club focuses on emotional regulation for both you and your child, using the 6P Framework to shift what you notice in real time - so you can respond how you want to, when it actually counts.

What's Inside The Club?

The Guilty Parent Club gives you a simple, flexible support system you can use in real family life:

  • A bite-sized audio library (podcast-style guidance) you can listen to in the moment you need it

  • A practical workbook system to help you apply ideas without overwhelm

  • A safe community of parents who get what this actually feels like

  • A guided email journey through The 6P Key Framework, which acts as your anchor when things feel chaotic

"How on earth can I get him to turn off the iPad without melting down?"
"What can I do about her hitting her brother, I've tried everything..."
"How can I get him to listen to instructions, he just refuses!"

“What if I don’t have time to keep up with the programme?”

You’re not expected to “keep up” or complete everything. Most parents dip in & out of the content depending on what’s happening at home.

The real value often comes from finding one or two ideas at the right moment & using them straight away.

The podcast-style lessons are short & flexible, & the workbooks are there when you want to go a little deeper.

With lifetime access, this is designed to fit around your life, not add more pressure.

“Will this work for my child if typical parenting advice hasn’t helped?”

This space is designed especially for parents who feel that typical parenting approaches don’t quite fit.

Whether your child is highly sensitive, neurodivergent, or you’re still figuring that out, the focus is on understanding behaviour through the lens of emotional regulation, not one-size-fits-all strategies.

We explore “What’s underneath this (for you, as well as your child) & how can I respond in a way that actually helps us both?”. This is the shift that often starts changing things.

“Is this really worth it compared to 1:1 support?”

1:1 support can be incredibly helpful, but it’s not always accessible or sustainable for every family.

The Club is designed to give you ongoing, expert guidance in a way that’s more flexible & affordable. You’ll have a library of tools to return to, plus the option to join our safe, no pressure parent support group .

Many parents find that having continuous access to ideas & a supportive community creates more lasting change - and you can always add a 1:1 session later if you need it.

About me

I’m Dr Jo Mueller, and I’m a Clinical Psychologist. I specialise in working with parents to help you be as understanding to yourself as you try to be to your kids. Because parenting is HARD and I get it.

I’ve been privileged to work with parents and children around the world for the last 17 years, including a decade in UK NHS mental health services.

I have worked on parenting research studies at renowned London universities, including designing specialist neurodivergent parenting programmes, and delivering training in evidence-based parenting approaches.

I'm also a mum of two myself, so - I see you. I understand the day-to-day realities of parenting, and I can help.

What's my Why?

I see so much parent guilt in my 1:1 practice but I KNOW it affects parents who can't make it to therapy, too.

I’m on a crusade to use my expertise and experience to help as many parents as I can feel less guilty, self-critical & stressed, & more like yourself again, so you can be the parent you want to be for your kids.

That's what the Guilty Parent Club is here for, & it's so much better when we do it together.
